Widecombe Jubilee Celebrations

Published: February 5, 2026

Widecombe had a great Jubilee celebration with the Jubilee Lunch on Sunday 3rd June followed by games for the children, some Merrymakers sketches, a performance from the Widecombe Singers, the National Anthem and afterwards the release of a large quantity of red, white and blue balloons and culminating in Songs of Praise at Widecombe Church.

That was followed on 4th June with a barn dance and disco (until the early hours!), the lighting of the beacon at Top Tor and rounded off with a firework display.

A great time was had by all and really the weather was not too bad!!

We will be posting photos of the event as they come in. David Lomax has sent in the first batch for you to enjoy. Please take a look at these here on Flickr

We would like to convey our thanks to everyone who was involved in organising the event, including all the fund-raising that had gone on in the months leading up to the Jubilee. Thanks a lot for all your hard work! Thanks also to all those that turned up and made it such a special occasion.
