Snow Warden Scheme

The Snow Warden Scheme in Widecombe helps the parish stay prepared during periods of severe winter weather. Local volunteers act as snow wardens, working in coordination with the highway authority to monitor conditions, spread grit on key routes, and help keep roads and pathways passable where possible.

By focusing on priority areas and sharing local knowledge, the scheme supports safer travel during snow and ice, particularly in more remote parts of the parish. It also plays an important role in strengthening community resilience, ensuring that help is available when it is most needed.
